# HOW TO "BYOK"

Last updated \[beta release, 18/sept/2026]

Using your own API Key (Bring Your Own Key / BYOK) grants you **unlimited, queue-free sessions** on Verlexy Bot by bypassing public server limits! \
\
Here is how the memory limits are applied to keep our VPS performance lightning-fast:\
\- **Standard Free Users:** Bypasses public rate-limits (no cool-downs/waiting times) with a stable **40,000 token memory limit** to ensure peak database speed.\
\- **Verified Creators:** Unlocks a massive **250,000 token memory** and the ability to choose your own AI models!

&#x20;*<mark style="color:$info;">**(Note: To keep this premium 250k memory active, you must publish at least one creative template or novel to our forum every 3 to 4 weeks, or the Creator status will decay back to Standard).**</mark>*\
\
Follow this step-by-step visual guide to get your key officially and safely from Google for **100% FREE!**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://verlexy.gitbook.io/tutorial/how-to-byok.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
